ROSEMONT ROCKS KAREN/MISS MAYPOLE'S REPORT Just as the bright orange Harvest moon was rising in the sky, Bob Stroud (The Drive, FM radio 97.1) announced Joe Cocker and the Guess Who to a seemingly sold out auditorium. After the lights within the Rosemont Theater dimmed, Joe Cocker began. His set has changed since the Moline show. Even though fewer fans were on their feet throughout his performance, he was incredible. Very talented. Following a brief intermission, Sam Boyd announced The Guess Who. Within seconds Bill, Donnie and Garry were on stage with Randy and Burton trailing behind. Without commentary, they began performing "Shakin' all Over." After the third or fourth song, Burton acknowledged the events of 911 and stated "America will prevail!" Later in the show Randy advised "Take Care of Business USA..." When the band performed "Laughing" the audience seemed more sober, somber and serious than the crowds had been in Cadott, Hinckley and Moline. Funny moment...from my vantage point, after Burton had been walking around the stage, he sat down at the piano....and there for a brief second, the light caught one of Gary's symbols in such a way that it looked (briefly) as if Burton had a Halo! In my opinion, the American Woman Tour has yet to hit a sour note! Maple Fudge and I enjoyed the concert, as well as, meeting fellow fans. Mark - thanks for the figurine. It as a special place in our living room. Thanks also to Suzie and Sherry for organizing the Windy City gatherings. To - THE GUESS WHO - Thanks for adding joy to our lives through your music.
